A WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE

Obsidian Engineering brings over 150 years of project experience ranging from large diameter pipelines to gas processing plants and transmission compression installations. We are able to assemble a team fronted by experienced personnel for any project scope while maintaining a lean structure with low overhead.

    GAS PROCESSING FACILITIES

M2 GAS PLANT

$65 MILLION TIC

Green field gas plant with a rated inlet capacity of 100 MMscfd. Equipment installed

included propane refrigeration, condensate stabilization, NGL storage, compression,

inlet separation and utility system.

D1 GAS PLANT

$65 MILLION TIC

Greenfield gas plant with a rated capacity of 100 MMscfd. Equipment installed included inlet

compression, propane refrigeration, sales compression and NGL storage.

EDSON GAS PLANT

$60 MILLION TIC

Expansion project to increase both capacity and liquids recovery. Process included liquid

recovery (de-ethanizer, stabilizer), lean oil absorber, 3000HP refrigeration compression.

All process and utility heat provided by a steam heating system.

SIMONETTE REFRIG. EXPANSION

$55 MILLION TIC

Brownfield 100 MMscfd sweet gas plant expansion to an existing sour gas processing plant.

Installed equipment primarily included engine-driven propane refrigeration package and

utility heat package.

DOE CREEK 13-24 COMPRESSOR ADDITION

LEUCROTTA EXPLORATION: $7.5 MILLION TIC

Inlet expansion consisting of 3-phase separation and 2370 HP engine driven compression.

J-T plant assessment included review of the impact of higher temperature feed gas vs. previous

operation involving a blended inlet (compression and high-pressure inlet pipelines).

Optimized J-T plant operating parameters considering the associated increase in liquid rates

and higher stabilizer overheads flow to maintain target sales hydrocarbon dewpoint.

                                                                                   COMPRESSION FACILITIES

MULTIPLE COMPRESSOR STATIONS

$20 MILLION TIC

Various compressor stations, designed for 6 to 12 MMscfd (2 stage units, up to 1500HP-Waukesha

7042’s). Stations were pre-fabricated and modularized, flexible to be easily duplicated and moved if

necessary. Stations included a single inlet separator, single compressor (2-stage), single dehy unit, flare

stack & office building. Design accommodated spacing requirements for AB, BC & SK.

COLUMBIA 15-36 COMPRESSOR STATION

$35 MILLION TIC

Greenfield 60MMscfd (designed for future expansion to 120 MMscfd) Compressor Station and Refrige

Plant located in Columbia field of Alberta. Consisted of Inlet Separation, de-ethanizer, de-butanizer, inlet

compression (2 x Caterpillar 3612LE – 30 MMscfd ea.), refridge compression (1 x Caterpillar 3512 TALE),

sales compression (1 x Waukesha L7044GSI – 60 MMscfd), condensate pumps, liquid storage tanks, VRU,

flare equipment and office building.

KAYBOB COMPRESSOR STATION

$55 MILLION TIC

DESIGNED COMPRESSION HP: 10,000 HP (RECIPROCATING)

Greenfield compressor station with a design throughput of 40 MMscfd, expandable to 80 MMscfd and

with provisions for a low pressure/booster inlet. Facility design included condensate handling considering

a design ratio of 200 bbl/MMscf. Installed compression equipment included Waukesha L7042 and P9390

engine-driven package.

GAS TRASMISSION EXPANSION (TURBINES)

$90 MILLION TIC

DESIGNED COMPRESSION HP: >22,000 HP (TURBINES)

Brownfield compressor station expansion involving the installation of two Solar T70 turbine-driven

centrifugal compressor sets with rated capacity of 292 MMscfd each.
